The 10th Native Arts Expo begins with an art market featuring more than 30 Native artists and organizations, followed by a special screening of People of the West: Future Generations and the opening of Birds and the Beads, a solo exhibition by Eastern Pomo artist and curator Meyo Marrufo.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17

Spend the day exploring Native art, cultural demonstrations, presentations, traditional dance, music, artist panels, and the Big Auntie Earring Show at the Native Arts Expo.
 

At 5:00 PM, the gathering transitions into One People, One Fire with an evening of Indigenous music and community.

MUSIC • 5:00 PM 

Featuring:

• LYLA JUNE - a poet, singer-songwriter, hip-hop artist, human ecologist, public speaker and community organizer of Diné (Navajo), Tsétsêhéstâhese (Cheyenne) and European lineages. She blends her study of Human Ecology at Stanford, graduate work in Indigenous Pedagogy, and the traditional worldview she grew up with to inform her music, perspectives and solutions. 

• NIKO OTIS - (Lakota, African American Filipino and Greek) is a farmer, hip-hop artist, model, songwriter and performer, born and raised in Sebastopol, California. He is passionate about using his voice and music to create political change and showcase his multicultural heritage inspiring BIPOC people from all walks of life to move towards their dreams.

• TAJIE D - an independent hip-hop and R&B rapper, songwriter, and audio engineer from Northern California who has opened for over 200 live shows.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18 - ONE PEOPLE, ONE FIRE 

Sunday is a day of ceremony, cultural sharing, learning, food, music, and relationship.

• Sunrise Ceremony
  Beginning the day together in ceremony.
• Cultural Sharing
  Songs, stories, traditions, and cultural expression shared by invited participants.
• Community Teach-In
  An opportunity to listen, learn, ask questions, and deepen understanding of the histories and contemporary realities of Indigenous peoples of this region.
• Traditional Ecological Knowledge
  Workshops and teachings exploring relationships among land, water, plants, animals, people, and generations.
• Indigenous Food + Music
  Sharing food, music, and community around the fire.
• Closing Ceremony
  Closing our time together in gratitude and relationship

TWO GATHERINGS • ONE WEEKEND

One People, One Fire is held in collaboration with the 10th Native Arts Expo.

The Native Arts Expo takes place October 16–17 and brings together more than 30 Native artists and organizations for an art market, exhibitions, artist panels, cultural demonstrations, music, traditional dance, and more.

As the Expo concludes Saturday afternoon, One People, One Fire carries the gathering into Saturday evening and Sunday with music, ceremony, cultural sharing, community learning, food, and Traditional Ecological Knowledge.

Together, the events create three days dedicated to Indigenous creativity, culture, knowledge, and community.
